Mumbai: Farzan Tanki, elder brot-her of Saheem Tanki, who allegedly fled to Sy-ria along with Areeb Majeed and other youth from Kalyan turned hostile during his deposition as the prosecution witness against Areeb. Farzan denied to have said many important facts in his statement before the pol-ice following which the court on prosecution’s request declared him hostile. Tanki was decla-red hostile on Wednesday.

He told the court that on May 24, 2014 his brother went to meet one of his friends but didn’t return following which they filed a missing complaint with local police and on May 27 the family rece-ived a phone call from Saheem and he informed them that he was fine and would return back. According to the witness, Saheem didn’t give his location but he was making phone calls from some foreign number.

Following this the public prosecutor requested the court to declare Far-zan hostile as he was contradicting his statement. The prosecution case is that Saheem had told the family about them joining ISIS and also that Areeb died. However, in court he spoke the opposite of it.
