Mumbai: A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable Rajesh Jangid was suspended on Wednesday after a video went viral in which he is seen molesting a woman at Kalyan station. The incident occurred on Monday. An alert passenger shot the video of the errant cop, who was in an inebriated state.

Sachin Bhalode, senior divisional security commissioner (DSC) of RPF, said, “Mr Jangid has been suspended and further investigation is on.” The RPF is trying to trace the victim, who is yet to file a complaint.

According to RPF sources, the incident took place on Monday evening after Mr Jangid left the orderly room. Soon after as the said woman was waiting for an outstation train Mr Jangid molested her, after which he was slapped by a bystander for his indecent gesture.

After a video showing RPF constable Rajesh Jangid molesting a woman went viral, an inquiry is on to prove that he was inebriated when he reported to duty Monday.

According to the RPF, on Monday evening, just before the molestation, Mr Jangid had been penalised for extending his leave by two days without sanction. He was asked not to work at the Kalyan RPF on Monday by the Kalyan RPF senior inspector.

Mr Bhalode said that after verifying the veracity of the video's contents Mr Jangid has been suspended. Departmental action would be initiated against him. Mr Jangid has been attached with the Kalyan RPF since 2015. He has been in the RPF for the past 12 years.

The senior DSC also said that the RPF would not compromise on women's security and stern action is warranted against Mr Jangid. Mr Bhalode said that preliminary inquiry would be completed within two days.
