Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janta party’s (BJP) social media workers have claimed that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut carried out an internal survey for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, in which he found out that BJP would bag 101-105 seats and Sena will win only 83 seats. However, Mr Raut has called the letter posted by BJP’s social media wing as “fake”.

Shiv Sena has also said it will file a complaint against BJP. Meanwhile, the BJP member who originally posted the message on Twitter, told The Asian Age that he had only posted a letter that he himself had received on WhatsApp.

On Friday, Raj Jaiswal, a BJP social media wing leader, posted a picture of a letter allegedly signed by Mr Raut, which claimed that BJP would win 105 seats in the upcoming BMC elections. “This letter was allegedly sent by Devang Dave, the head of BJP social media wing in the state, on WhatsApp. It was then forwarded to all the social media activists of the party. I have filed a complaint against Dave and his team,” said Ramesh Solanki, a core committee member of Shiv Sena’s IT team.

Meanwhile, Mr Raut said, “The BJP is playing with fire, and I haven’t issued any such letter.”
