Mumbai: Two months after conducting the third-year B.Com examinations for University of Mumbai (MU)’s Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL) students, the varsity has yet to declare the results. Anxious students are worried about their future as they cannot proceed for job opportunities or further studies without their results and mark sheets. The examination, which was conducted in the month of May this year, saw nearly 6,000-7,000 students appear for it.

“It has been close to 100 days since the examination that we have been waiting for our results. All my other friends, who did the same course from other universities or private autonomous colleges, have received their results and have even started their working or have gone for further studies. MU is not taking our lives seriously. They are not realising how much we are suffering in a situation like this,” said Mahesh Sharda, a student from Kalyan.

Meanwhile, students are also worried about the entire revaluation scenario if there is any kind of problem with their results after they are declared.

Kashish Korad, another student from Ratnagiri said, “Even if they do declare the result, looking at the past scenario, there is a high possibility of some goof up in the marks or mark sheets, which may take another 30 to 40 days to rectify. I may not be that affected because I am planning to take up a job after my results show. But what about those students who will be applying for MBA or any further studies in universities or management colleges,” he said.

“MU takes fine or extra charges if we submit any form late or submission is delayed. They punish us if we miss doing something they have asked for. We are supposed to follow each and every guideline, rule and regulation, but who is supposed to punish the university if they commit such huge mistakes,” one of the student tweeted. Several students have mailed and sent letters to the chief minister, the education minister and other MU officials for their results.

When The Asian Age contacted Vinod Malale, the IDOL spokesperson, he assured that the results would be declared on Tuesday. “The assessment work is finished and we will declare the results soon. Students can check their results on the website,” he said. According to sources close to IDOL, the delay is due to unavailability of staff for assessment as several professors are on vacation due to Ganeshotsav.
