Mumbai: The Mumbai University (MU) is managing to declare only around four results on a daily basis since the Vice Chancellor (VC) Sanjay Deshmukh was sent on indefinite leave on August 10. The varsity declared the results of around 30 final year exams even as it missed its third deadline for announcing the results on August 15.

Mr Devanand Shinde, who has been roped as the acting VC, doesn’t believe in deadlines. He wants to focus on quality and says that that he can’t issue a date when all the results could be declared. However, a source from the varsity confirms that it might take 15 more days to declare all the pending results.

Till Thursday, 1,53,733 answer sheets were yet to be assessed, while around 140 results were pending. The ones that have been announced include those of the ATKT examinations, which has a very few number of students. A large chunk of the answer papers are yet to be assessed, which includes those of the department of Law, Commerce and Management.

Around 139 results of the arts department have been declared, 18 of commerce, 28 for science, 26 for management, 138 for technology and 5 from the law department. However, the results that have been declared till now in all the aforesaid departments are of small courses that don’t have more than 200 to 250 students. “When the varsity claimed to declare 1 result of the law department, we were happy. However, when we saw what they declared – we were shocked! They had declared ATKT results which must have around 100 students,” said a law student.
