Television actor Sahdev tests positive in rape case

Mumbai: Medical tests conducted on television actor Piyush Sahdev — arrested for allegedly raping a model-actress on several occasions on the pretext of marriage — have come positive. Piyush was arrested from his Versova residence on November 22, and taken for a medical examination. The actor is currently lodged in Arthur Road jail.

Police sources said that the 23-year-old victim, a fashion designer by profession, met Piyush through mutual friends and the two started living together. Two months later, Piyush proposed marriage to the victim, however, things took an ugly turn when she found some objectionable pictures of him and another girl.

Following a heated argument, Piyush refused to marry her, and the victim filed a case of rape against him in a fit of rage.

Piyush’s bail plea has been rejected by the court and the actor has been shifted to Arthur Road jail. Piyush's estranged wife, actress AkangshaRawat, who had earlier charged him with cruelty and harassment in her police complaint, said she had not been in touch with him.

Kiran Kale, senior police inspector, Versova police station, said, “He is still in jail and his charge-sheet is being prepared. Till then, he is being kept in judicial custody and the investigation is going on alongside.The medical reports also suggest rape and the chargesheet will be filed by next week.”

Piyush, last seen on Sony Television’s Beyhadh, made his TV debut with Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai and also featured in shows such as Meet Mila De Rabba, Geet and Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev.
