Man walks into police station with gun, held

Naya Nagar police in Mira Road have arrested a 30-year-old man who walked into their police station with an illegal firearm on Wednesday.

According to the police, Maskara was cursing his wife for having an extra marital affair and revealed his intent of killing both- his wife and her paramour.

Mumbai: The Naya Nagar police in Mira Road have arrested a 30-year-old man who walked into their police station with an illegal firearm on Wednesday.

As police personnel were busy chalking out security arrangements for the ongoing festive season, a person who identified himself as-Arun Kumar Maskara (30) walked into the police station in the evening hours.

According to the police, Maskara was cursing his wife for having an extra marital affair and revealed his intent of killing both- his wife and her paramour.

As a preventive measure, police sub-inspector Suhel Pathan, frisked Maskara and found him to be in possession of a country-made revolver and three live rounds.

“After he failed to produce license, we seized the firearm and took him into custody. He has been booked under sections 3 and 25 (1B) a of the Arms Act and section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951.” confirmed a police officer.

The accused, a cloth trader residing in the Kalbadevi area of Mumbai, has been remanded to police custody and investigations were on to confirm the allegations levelled by him and also to ascertain the source from which he managed to procure the illegal firearm.
