Mumbai: An alert Railway Police Force (RPF) officer saved a female passenger, who fell in the gap between her train and the platform at Mumbai Central station, around 11 pm on Tuesday.

The woman, who has been identified as Rojee, was running to board the Gujarat Mail train. CCTVs set up at the station captured the entire incident.

In the video, Rojee, who arrived late at the station, was seen running towards the train with her heavy luggage. In her haste to get in the coach, she lost her balance and fell in the gap.

The constable, Ashok Kumar Yadav, who ran parallel to her, pulled her out in the nick of time as the train had started gaining speed.

The train was later stopped after the incident came to light.

An RPF official said, “Yadav has shown alertness by saving the life of the woman passenger who was running to board the Gujarat Mail that was in motion on platform number 2 of Mumbai Central station.”

He added that the woman was trying to board the rear ladies’ compartment of the mail.

The railway official said Rojee had reserved seat no. 34 in coach no. B4.
