Mumbai: The teachers of the first year junior college (FYJC) complained that they are finding it difficult to manage their lectures due to the special rounds of admission since August first week.

According to the teacher, every week around 5 to 10 students get admission and so they have to start their lectures from the beginning so that the newcomers understand the basics of a subject. The state’s school education department announced that it would conduct extra special and additional rounds as more than 20,000 remained seat-less after the four mandatory rounds.

However, the department asked the colleges to carry on with their lectures from August 9 if their seats are 80 per cent full or more.

“Our classes started from August 14. We started teaching the subjects as we were all ready to begin the academic year. However, slowly, day after day, we continued to get new admissions. So we had to start teaching the subjects again from the beginning,” said principal.

BB Chavan, deputy director of education, Mumbai region said, “These supplementary and additional rounds are for the students to secure admission through proper way. Meanwhile, colleges have been given the liberty to manage the lectures through extra classes. It entirely depends on the teachers.”
