Mumbai: The state education department on Saturday instructed all the first year junior colleges (FYJC) in the city to conduct extra lectures on Sundays and public holidays for students who took admissions late. The fourth round of the first come, first serve (FCFS) round of the admissions will begin on October 9.

Every student needs at least 75 per cent attendance in order to attempt the semester examinations. But with FYJC admissions still going on, many students are unlikely to reach the said percentage. “As admissions are still going on, colleges have put examinations on hold. They have been told to conduct extra classes so that they can complete their syllabus and attendance quota before giving the examinations,” an official said.

Meanwhile, the overall vacancy for fourth round of FCFS for FYJC admissions will be displayed on the official website for students to check for vacant seats and apply to colleges accordingly. From October 10 to 19, the FCFS panel will be activated for eligible students who can secure admissions once seats are allotted to them. The students who wish to take admission under minority, management or in-house quota, but have not filled their part-2 form, can approach the nearby help centre before October 19 and submit their details.  to participate in admission rounds.
