Mumbai: Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray has given ample indication of contesting from the Worli constituency in the upcoming Vidhan Sabha polls. He always likes to come to Worli and work there, he said.

At an event to launch free bus services for school girls by Sankalp Pratishthan in Worli, the Thackeray scion said, “I like to visit Worli regularly. Be it a ward or an Assembly constituency here, I like to work here.”

Aaditya’s comments have sparked speculation that he is prepping to contest the forthcoming Vidhan Sabha polls from the Worli Asse-mbly constituency. Incide-ntally, the Sankalp Pratis-hthan belongs to former NCP leader Sachin Ahir, who has now switched over to the Shiv Sena.

Worli is considered to be a safe bastion of the Sena, as a majority of corporators are from there. In the 2014 Vidhan Sabha polls too, Sena MLA Sunil Shinde had defeated Mr Ahir, who was then with the NCP, by 23,000 votes. Mr Shinde has said that he is ready to vacate the seat if Aaditya wants to contest the polls.

With Mr Ahir now on its side, the Sena has no formidable opponent left in Worli. In the last few months, Aaditya has fortified his presence in Worli by attending and launching several initiatives.

In June, the Thackeray junior held a meeting of Yuva Sena officials in the Worli and Mahim Assembly segments. The officials and workers of Yuva Sena were given a specific target for registration of new voters in Worli and Mahim.
