West Bengal to be 2nd with own government song, CM will pen it

Kolkata: The government will soon have a song of its own and the lyrics are being penned by none other than chief minister Mamata Banerjee herself. Bengal’s unity in diversity and its communal harmony will be the theme behind the song, which is expected to be unveiled shortly. Once the song is finalised, Bengal will be the second state after Tamilnadu to have its government’s own song.

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee had unveiled the state’s logo in May with the national emblem on it. “It has been sent to the Centre for its approval,” a senior official in the state secreteriat Nabanna said.

The West Bengal government has already passed a bill in the state Assembly that Pashim Banga should be named as Bangla. The files related to the change in name has been sent a few ago and is still pending with the Centre.

Ms Banerjee has designed logos for several projects of her government that have been extremely successful. Sabuj Sathi, in which bicycles are distributed among the students of state-run or sponsored and aided schools, Gatidhara, a project where subsidy is being provided for drivers of vehicles bear logos designed by her.
