3-year-old sexually assaulted at MP Birla in Behala

Kolkata: Another incident of alleged sexual assault on a three-and-half-year-old nursery student, this time at MP Birla Foundation Higher Secondary School in Behala, surfaced on Saturday. The victim’s parents found their child touching her private parts often since June.

“One day I scolded her after catching her doing the same during dinner. She asked me why I rebuked her saying ‘Uncle does it to her too.’ I was stunned. When I asked her who the ‘Uncle’ was, she said he was in school. Next day we visited the school and met the principal who did not cooperate with us. The class-teacher told us the incident happened to our daughter at our home,” the student’s mother said on Saturday.

The woman added, “On September 13, I found my daughter crying in pain while urinating at home Later blood stains were found in her private parts. She was taken to Vidyasagar Hospital where the sexual abuse was confirmed.”.

The student’s father said, “My daughter identified two among the thirty school staffs, whose photos were shown to her.” The school authorities stated, “The school has thoroughly investigated the matter including going through hours of CCTV footage and tracked the movement of the child inside the school on the day the misconduct was alleged to have taken place. CCTV footage was shown to parents also. The police has also gone through the footage as well as interrogated several members of staff and teachers.”

The school authorities added, “No evidence of any such misconduct taking place in the School was noticed during the investigation, both internally and by the police.”
