15-yr-old girl raped in Chennai after being given liquor, drugs

Chennai: In a shocking incident, a minor girl had drug addiction forced upon her before she was raped repeatedly by a group of youngsters in Tiruvallur. The 15-year-old girl is reported to be in Class 10 and the incident happened when she was home during the summer vacation.

Youngsters in the neighbourhood befriended her and allegedly introduced her to liquor and drugs. They were an aid to have taken her to the outskirts of the town without the knowledge of her parents and repeatedly raped.

Since the girl fell ill recently, her parents took her to a hospital where she reportedly admitted to having consumed liquor and ganja. Shocked parents inquired further and came to know also about the sexual abuse.

Based on their complaint, Tiruvallur town police registered a case and all-women police took over the investigation.

Police sources said that police have picked seven suspects from the same locality for interrogation. They all are said to have just completed 18 years of age and police have launched a hunt for five more persons.

Meanwhile, other sources said the girl went missing from home and was found by police in Tiruvallur bus stand. "During the quizzing, the girl had reportedly told the police about the abuse, which led to the arrest of seven teenage boys,” sources told. Further investigation is on.
