TMC man’s body found, mob sets ablaze hotel

Berhampore: An irate mob not only ransacked but also set ablaze a private hotel in Lalbag on Tuesday morning in protest after one Berhampore TMC gram panchayat member’s strangulated body was recovered from the hotel.

The cops tried to pacify the crowd and two fire brigade engines were pressed into action to extinguish the fire. According to police sources, the victim Kayem Seikh (40), was a Radharghat-1 gram panchayat member from Berhampore. He went missing on Sunday evening. 

On Tuesday morning, his relatives were informed that Seikh, the GP member who recently switched from Congress to TMC, was killed. They rushed to the hotel premise at Lalbagh chowk area.
