New Delhi: A playschool owner in Harsh Vihar allegedly committed suicide by hanging inside the premises of his school on Monday evening. The police said that the deceased, before taking the extreme step, sent out his death note on WhatsApp to his family and friends.

The police identified the deceased as 34-year-old Vikas. He is survived by his wife, Vinita, two sons and a daughter. The police investigation reveals that Vikas, besides running the playschool, was also involved in finance work.

The police said that Vikas took the extreme step because of the humiliation he received at the hands of his creditors. In his suicide note, he has blamed his uncle’s son Pawan.

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday when Vikas left for his office in Tulsi Niketan while taking the school keys. However, after a few hours, family, friends and relatives of Vikas were shocked to receive a suicide note from Vikas The alleged suicide note read, “I am taking an extreme step to end my life because of my uncle’s son Pawan. He took `five lakh on credit in over four to five instalments which I had arranged from creditors with interest. However, when the time came to repay the money, Pawan became evasive and didn’t return the money.

The creditors who gave the money on loan started to humiliate me because of my inability to return the money on time. Therefore, I request the police to take strict action against Pawan and also request my wife to not to leave home and stay with my father. I also request the creditors to not harass my family for the money.”

After receiving the message, Vikas’ family members rushed to check on him. After they couldn’t find him at his office, they rushed to the school where his body was hanging from the ceiling fan.

Vikas was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead. According to a senior police official, the police is questioning Pawan’s family. The family has refuted the charges pressed against Pawan by the deceased.

“The police has taken up the case and has ordered an inquiry into the same. A team is also verifying the WhatsApp message which was sent across to all the family members by Vikas,” the police officer added.
