New Delhi: With just few days left for the LL.B. entrance exam to take place, a knee-jerk reaction has erupted amongst the aspirants seeking admission into Delhi University’s faculty of law.

As per a notification issued on June 24 in the name of Kiran Gupta, head and dean, the law faculty has changed the pattern of the entrance test scheduled for July 2.

As per the new pattern, there has been a reduction in the number of multiple choice questions from 175 to 100 with a further addition of current affairs, reasoning and analytical ability. The old pattern consisted of 175 questions with a major chunk of it, comprising around 200 marks and approximately 50 questions, on policy and Constitution. This section has now been completely done away with.

However, the students have alleged that the syllabus and test pattern of LL.M. has also been changed. “Topics like company law and partnership, consumer protection, cyber law, IPR and sales of good act have baffled the entire line of aspirants,” final year law student Mohit K. Gupta said.

Law student Vikas, who has petitioned the Delhi high court for introduction of 1 Year LL.M. in DU with Mohit, has questioned the varsity to make public the approval of committee to change the syllabus and pattern of the entrance test.

“You don’t mention date on public records and make changes at the last moment. This is gross injustice to aspirants preparing from last year as one can’t change the rules of the game when it is about to end,” Vikas complained.

However, Ved Kumari, head and dean, Faculty of Law, issued a clarification on June 27 stating that the syllabus for LL.B. entrance test will be the same as it has been in the last few years. “The only difference is, instead of 175 MCQs, there will be only 100 MCQs,” she said.
