New Delhi: The crime branch of the Delhi police has prepared a new list of JNU students to whom they will soon issue notice for lie-detector tests in connection with the missing case of JNU student Najeeb Ahmed.

A police source privy to the investigation said that they would issue notice to close friends of Najeeb. The police has spoken to them on several occasions.

“The friends, including the roommate and fellow students, told us that they had no problem in undergoing lie-detector test. We have so far not issued them any notice but they have given us their consent to undergo lie-detector test,” a police source said.

The police had earlier issued notice to ten students and had asked them to appear before it for a lie-detector test. After receiving the summons, a group of students out of the ten who were served notices, had opposed the police move. The students had approached the lower court against the police move, challenging the issuance of notice to them.

The students who opposed the police move had also raised questions about the reliability of the lie-detector test.

They filed a plea saying that neither were they named in the FIR nor was there any prima facie evidence against them that could prove their involvement in the case.
