Venkaiah Naidu undergoes angioplasty at AIIMS, discharged

According to an AIIMS bulletin, he is in sound health and all parameters are normal.

New Delhi: Vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, who underwent angioplasty at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital in Delhi, was discharged on Saturday. Mr Naidu, who became the vice-president in August, had come for a routine detailed body medical check-up at the premier health institute on Friday, when some tests pointed to problems related to the heart. A “significant blockage” in one of the main arteries was found and to treat the condition, a stent was placed and he had to undergo an angioplasty, a senior doctor at AIIMS said. The hospital authorities said that all his parameters are normal. Sixty-eight-year-old Mr Naidu has been advised complete rest for three days and not have any visitors during this period. The vice-president was discharged on Saturday. According to an AIIMS bulletin, he is in sound health and all parameters are normal. The procedure was done under the supervision of professor Balram Bhargava of the department of cardiology.
