New Delhi: A security guard, allegedly suffering from depression, was detained for lurking suspiciously in a security porta cabin near the residence of finance minister Arun Jaitely in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash area on Tuesday.

The person has been identified as Ganesh Nayak, who is in his 30’s and a resident of Prakash Mohalla in Garhi, police said.

On Monday night, Greater Kailash police station was informed about a man near Mr Jaitely’s residence. Reportedly, Mr Jaitley is presently not residing in the house.

On reaching the spot, which is a park located nearly 100 yards from Mr Jaitley’s house, police learnt that the staff of RAC (Rajasthan Armed Constabulary), deployed at the residence of the minister, had put up porta cabins there as resting place and the person had entered one of those.

It was revealed during the investigations that Mr Nayak seemed to be suffering from phobia, where he thought he was being attacked by unknown persons.

On Monday, when he was returning home around 9 pm, two-three persons crossed his path and he feared that they were going to beat him. Following this, he started running. He finally ended up at the spot and hid himself behind the porta cabins of RAC.

Subsequently, he was caught by the staff, who then informed the police about it. Mr Nayak’s statement to the police is being verified.

Meanwhile, Mr Nayak’s version that he worked as a security guard, has been verified from his employer and nothing suspicious has been found.

The police said that Mr Nayak seems mentally disturbed owing to some family trouble. He is currently living at Prakash Mohalla in Garhi with his friends and colleagues. His family is in West Bengal.
