Driver tries to run over guard at IGI airport, held

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, a Ola taxi driver allegedly rammed his car into a private security personnel at the IGI airport on Sunday evening. However, the guard was not injured. The personnel belongs to DIAL’s private security force Raxa, which maintains security at forecourt, parking lots and cargo terminals. Raxa assists the CISF and the Delhi police in keeping a watch at the airport. No police complaint has been filed yet.

“At about 4.11 pm on Sunday, CISF’s quick reaction team flashed a massage about a rogue cab which had sped away from the departure terminal after hitting a security staff. Immediately, the exit naka was directed to block the vehicle. The QRT swung into action and at about 4:12 pm, the taxi driver was apprehended by the QRT,” said a CISF official.

“Probe revealed that the erring driver, Dev Narayan Singh, is a resident of Sangam Vihar Delhi. He had intentionally hit Raxa staff Arun Kumar after he was flagged down by the latter as he was unauthorisedly taking passengers. 

The driver was brought back at departure forecourt where at about 4:30 pam, Delhi Airport Parking Service duty manager Mr Kishor informed the police. The PCR reached at the location and took both the accused and security personal were taken to IGI airport Police station for further legal action. No major injury to the Raxa staff was reported,” the official added.

Meanwhile no police complaint was registered into this matter. “We have not received any complaint regarding this matter,” said DCP (IGI Airport) Sanjay Bhatia.
