New Delhi: Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH) in the capital will soon get a new radiotherapy and OPD blocks, the foundation stone for which was laid by Union home minister Rajnath Singh on Friday.

The hospital that celebrated its Foundation Day on Friday. 

Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Mr Singh said that healthcare should not be a profession, but a mission. Every mission should have ethical and moral values. The SGRH is one of those medical institutions, which is fulfilling the needs of ethical and moral values in health care.” 

“The SGRH is famous not only in Delhi, but nationally. An hospital by that name exists in Pakistan too,” he added. 

During the last fiscal year, 63,907 patients availed the hospital’s emergency services. In addition, the SGRH admitted 93,130 patients of which 8,131 were from poor patients who were treated free of cost. “It spent `70.86 crore on various charitable activities during last fiscal — 10 per cent more than the previous year,” said Dr D.S. Rana, chairman, board of management, SGRH.
