New Delhi:  An FIR has been registered against an ex-MLA after he accidentally fired from his liscenced pistol while loading the cartridges in it at a licencing office on Monday. A major mishap was averted as there was no one around.

The former MLA, identified as Jai Kishan, has been booked for endangering safety of others. The incident happened on Monday afternoon in the Defence Colony police station limits when the ex-MLA had gone to the licencing office for the renewal of his arms licence.

Acoording to the police, Jai Kishan approached the licencing office at around 3.30 pm on Monday. After getting his firearm licence renewed, Mr Kishan came out of the office and sat in the lounge. “He was loading the cartridges when accidentally the pistol went and the bullet hit the briefcase. In the lounge there were only a few persons. Since nobody was injured in this incident the licencee did not pay any heed to keep the weapon in safe custody and did an act which endangered life of other persons, hence a case under section 336 of the IPC was registered,” said a police officer.

A case has been registered in the Defence Colony police station.
