New Delhi: Ahead of Diwali, the Dwarka district of Delhi police has arrested five people for allegedly storing illegal crackers in the area on Monday.

The police has recovered more than 100 kg of firecrackers from their possession.

The police has seized more than 3,850 kg firecrackers in the national capital following the Supreme Court’s order on the sale of old firecrackers.

According to police, it received specific information on Monday that a shopkeeper, identified as Satish Katyal, was storing illegal crackers. A checking was done and the accused was asked to show his license.

The accused, however, did not have it.

“We have arrested him and recovered 47 kg crackers from his possession. It has also come to light that the accused was booked for the same offence last year as well,” said DCP (Dwarka) Anto Alphonse.
