‘My dance and spirituality are connected’

Spirituality means many different things to different people. I understood the connection between dance and spirituality through my mom. My mom has always played a big part in my creative and artistic expression as a dancer and as a performing artist. I grew up believing that music and dance are the purest forms of spiritual energy that allows me to connect to a higher consciousness. While learning Kathak from my mother since adolescence, I felt dance is imagination brought to life and dreams are no longer mythical fantasies that cannot be attained. When I began to connect my spirituality with my dancing, I realised that the two had been intertwined, at least in my world, and are beginning to create a remarkable bond.
