An off-duty police officer however, tackled one of the escaping men and cops are on the lookout for his partner who escaped with the watches and jewellery,

An onlooker, Jodie Brown, who filmed the botched escape from Chimes jewellery in Essex, said she felt like she was in a crime documentary.

Speaking about it she revealed that she was walking down the street when she saw the commotion happening.

"If you watch television at the moment there has been so many documentaries and stories about moped robberies,” she added.

Brown added that one thief tried to snatch back the keys from a woman but couldn't get them back.

The man who was caught was charged with robbery and will appear at Colchester Magistrates Court.
