Do you believe that age is just a number? Well, the adage can be proven true in your case — provided a strict diet and some timely lunch time procedures are incorporated into your maintenance regimen. Whether 25 or 40, adding volume and smoothing out the deep lines (also known as laugh lines) and achieving that perfect smile is on most women’s secret ‘to-do’goals’ list. And, justifiably so, as the cosmetic arena has evolved well enough to cater to all your ‘vanity’ woes — with a help of a wand, medically termed, ‘Dermal Fillers’.

The nasolabial folds, commonly known as “smile lines” or “laugh lines” are facial features. With ageing the fold may grow in length and depth. Dermal fillings may be used to replace lost fats and collagen in this facial area.

Naturally-derived fillers have a much smaller risk of causing an allergic reaction but reactions can occur. Only use FDA-approved dermal fillers and get it done only from the expert. Anyone above 18 years  can undergo the procedure. But, a prior consultation with an expert is strongly recommended.

Cosmetic fillers are long lasting, but not permanent. They are a quick fix, but not an all-in-all.

Post treatment, there may be redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, and/or itching near the injection site. Avoid itching, massaging, or picking around the injection site. This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days. However, if these symptoms persist beyond three days, do check with the doctor. Steer clear of alcohol post treatment.

Until the swelling and redness have resolved, avoid intense heat. This could mean giving activities like sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax a break. Also avoid extreme cold such as skiing or other winter sports.

Pregnant women should avoid the procedures. And those having some infections or allergies should avoid too.

One of the most well-known benefits of dermal filler is the way they minimise wrinkles. Also, the cost is significantly lesser as compared to a surgical procedure. Ageing causes skin to lose important nutrients, which offers stability and support. Given the fast paced lives we all lead, the damage occurs quicker.  Fillers that consist of synthetic hyaluronic acid help restore some of the vital ingredients to have firm, structured skin. These types of fillers also help provide hydration so that your skin has a bright, vibrant look.
