Want to scatter the remains of your loved ones in space?

A British company is launching the first extra-terrestrial funeral service.

People can now have their or their loved ones’ ashes scattered in space.

The service, offered by Ascension Flights, allows families to send their loved one’s remains to infinity and beyond, or in space.

The cost for scattering one's ashes in space is £795 and upwards.

The person’s remains are carried 22 miles up to be released into the high-altitude winds of the stratosphere before the emptied canister returns to Earth.

The two-and-a half-hour process is also filmed on HD camera so that friends and family can watch the ashes being scattered while residual moisture in the canister creates a plume of glitter.

The launches are slated to take place at the company’s South Yorkshire base but can be held elsewhere for a higher fee. Pet funerals are on the offing as well.

The flights are authorised by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The company was founded by two ex-University of Sheffield students who appeared in the show Dragon’s Den with their concept that they had been developing for 5 years.
