If you spend your days scrolling through pictures of red-carpet events, completely captivated by Bollywood divas’ designer outfits, perfect hairdos and exquisite accessories, the Dhoom Dhaam Trunk Show is the place for you. Celebrity stylist Tanya Ghavri, who’s styled the likes of Katrina Kaif, Shraddha Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Kareena Kapoor, is back with the third edition of the show that gives city women a chance to be styled like a celeb.

Talking about the idea behind the upcoming exhibition, Tanya says, “The idea of styling brides, young girls and women has been on my mind for a long time. I’ve been styling celebrities for about 10 years now. It was my friend Asi who suggested that should set up a company and take it to the next level.”

Tanya and Asi Dua started off by setting up Dhoom Dhaam Weddings four years ago with the aim of making every bride feel like a star. But soon, Tanya realised that she wanted to do more. And that’s how the Dhoom Dhaam Trunk Show came to be. “We came up with the idea of a show curated by me, which would be a one-stop shop for weddings, festive wear and occasion wear, with designers from across India exhibiting their creations,” Tanya says.

Over the past three years, the show has kept adding more designers and styles. And the latest edition promises to be the best one yet. Talking about bridal trends, Tanya says, “Brides now don’t want to go with the usual, they want to try something different. They are more open to experimenting with colours and silhouettes. It’s not your usual lehenga-choli anymore, now we have attached capes, off-shoulder blouses and accessories that make a dupatta redundant.”

But the Dhoom Dhaam Trunk Show is not just for brides-to-be; according to Tanya, there is something for everyone. “From 15-year-old girls to 40-year-old women, there is something for everyone. We also have a lot of comfortable Indian clothes for working women and housewives as well. There’s festive wear, but it’s not all heavy Indian attire. We have outfits that you can wear to lunch, or for festivals like Ganpati and Durga Puja.”

Explaining her approach to styling, Tanya says, “I style personalities - whether it’s a celebrity or not. I like talking to people able what they like, what they don’t like, what they’re comfortable with, what colours and styles they prefer.”

Her show will have hand-picked outfits from labels including Arpita Mehta, Jayanti Reddy, Ohaila Khan, Sukriti and Aakriti Label Anushree, Kresha Lulla, Ridhima Bhasin, Astha Narang, Babita Malkani and more. And Tanya hopes to provide every attendee with a personalised experience. In the years to come, she plans to take the Dhoom Dhaam Trunk Show to other cities as well.

You can check it out at the St. Regis, in Lower Parel, on September 1.
