This Monsoon, the lines between black and white blur.  Well, we’re talking in terms of the colour that’s trending at present – Grey. In the west, celebrities like Lady Gaga, Hilary Duff, Lourdes Lon, Rita Ora and Pink swear by the versatility of grey. They always walk out in ensembles with speckles of grey or even let it rule their outfits.  In India celebs like Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra, Disha Patani and Alia Bhatt are staunch followers of the gorgeous Gray. With the rainy weather in full swing, the colour is apt to sport to compliment the season. So, here are ways to don shades of grey, and turn heads. The city’s fashionistas give us their tips.

“I just got a grey sand washed silk jumpsuit tailored and will wear it with a dusty vintage rose soft leather belt and rose gold accessories. Silver too works well with grey,” begins fashionista and consultant Saritha Hedge. Not denying that the colour was once not a clear favourite, Saritha adds, “Yes, times have changed now, and so have peoples fashion sensibilities. It’s neutral, it has depth and makes for a great contrast  with bright colours like navy blue, turquoise, fuchsia, indigo, white emerald green etc.” For those not wanting to go full throttle or rather, all out with the colour; the rule of contrast pairing works, believes designer Reshma Kunhi. “If one doesn’t want to wear a grey from head to toe, they can wear it with contrasting duppatta. Grey sarees can have an elaborate border in any contrasting colour. This is one trick that always works. It instantly adds a pop of colour to your ensemble. A grey kurta with a flourescent border also looks great,” she adds.

Stylist Garima Gaur is of the opinion that grey could easily replace nudes, or if not replace, work as a trusty staple. “Young girls and working professionals sport a lot of nudes as they think its easier to wear, style and pair. But, I personally vouch by the power, subtlety and striking aura of grey. A white v-necked snug fit tee and ripped jeans makes for such an impressive look, when a well-fitted grey blazer is thrown over. A lot of youngsters go bold with their hair colours too. So, if you’re sporting light hair this season, squeeze in some grey and you’ll make heads turn.”
