This city-based duo’s new label brings affordability to feminine silhouettes.

Ever experienced a meltdown of annoyance at having to bump into somebody wearing the same outfit as yours at a party?

Well, gauging the angst of the millennial fashionista, Priyanka Vinod and Megha Kapoor are two city-based fashion aficionados who’re all set to ease your sartorial woes – through their week-old line, Millennial Mode Label. Speaking about how the idea was to marry fashion with functionality, the duo gets chatty...

“We’re both explorers, with an eye for detail. When Megha and I decided to start out, we were clear that we wouldn’t want one person to walk into a room, and then have another tell them how they bought the same same stuff. Monotony is a fashion crime!” reveals Priyanka, a 25-year-old human resource management graduate from King’s College, London.

While the digress to fashion was a gradual process, the two saw it coming. “Megha and I have been blogging for the longest time. Also, we share a common love for designing, discussing and helping people choose clothes that flatter their silhouette. The fact that we worked at a fashion tech start-up for a year post University only helped us develop a sharper eye towards the general fashion vibe of the young Bengalurean. We’ve played around with laces, ruffles, bows and a riot of colours,” she adds.

The casual-wear line starts at Rs 2,500 onwards. While the focus is on women’s wear and playing around with feminine silhouettes, the duo hopes to tread the men’s wear path as well.  “Yes, something for the boys is on the cards too!” reveals Megha.

While their debut venture has just kick-started, the responses have been encouraging enough. “We shot up to 500 likes on Facebook in four days, and that was a milestone for us! That aside, we’re happy to be creating feminine silhouettes, which will make people confident and comfortable. Also, we wish to break the distinction between elegant and edgy. And, probably merge them both!” opines Megha.

Ardent believers of how important it is to work hard and play harder, Priyanka lets us in on their other interests. “Fortunately, we are ardent travellers. Our Instagram accounts are filled with travelogues! That aside, we love writing about fashion too. So, fashion and travel take up all our time – free time and otherwise,” she concludes.
