India as we all know is one of the most versatile of countries. The variations that one gets to see in our culture, lifestyle, profession, beauty etc, is diverse. Indian beauties are admired worldwide because of their skin type and tone.

Once upon a time, the natural skin colour or Indian skin tones like brown or wheatish completion and tan were looked down upon.

It’s been a tough journey to get out of the trap and be comfortable in your own skin.

Now, the trend is to have a tanned look. Even the fairest of all sit in the sun for hours, travel countries to get a perfect sun tan. If still not satisfied, they satisfy themselves with the perfect tan make-up look.

For different kinds of Indian skin types, pastel shades of make-up are advisable.

Fair Skin: Light ivory, porcelain, sand, pale peach pink or slightly reddish (rosy) undertones. Pastel hues and softer tones like lilac and baby blue work in most situations. The beige and cream family shades might make you look dull, so try avoiding the same.

Medium Skin: Yellow, gold, beige, natural, red-olive, yellow-green undertones. Pastel shades like teal, saffron and tan rose colour work the best.

Medium-Dark Skin: Honey, cameo, copper, olive, tan, golden-olive, and caramel undertone. Pastel shades like mint green, baby pink and pastel grey suit this kind of skin type.

Dark Skin: Orange-brown, red-brown, walnut, almond, blue-black, ebony, dark chocolate undertones. Pastel earthy tones like peach, coral and jewel tones of blue, olive and purple work best. Avoid extremely bright tones, especially during the day.

A lady always looks elegant, when she carries herself with confidence and is comfortable in her own skin. That is real beauty.
