Divya Heroes 2019: Differently abled models walked down the ramp in Mumbai

The Divyang models took to the stage to participate in four-round fashion show based on different categories.

Mumbai: Divya Heroes 2019, one-day mega celebration in the heart of India’s Financial Capital Mumbai, received an overwhelming response from visitors. A number of differently-abled people on Sunday walked on the ramp at JVPD ground in Mumbai.

Organized by Udaipur-based NGO for disabled, Narayan Seva Sansthan, Divya Heroes 2019, an inclusive platform for disabled people, kicked off here today with 10 differently abledparticipants.

In the valedictory event, divyangs participated in a unique fashion show and took to the stage to participate in the four-round fashion show based on different categories - with calipers, wheelchairs, crutches, and artificial limbs. In this first of its kind fashion show, there were 10 participants who walked down the ramp in each round.

One of the main highlights of this event was Ms. Diya Shrimali’s welcome dance, who was born with underdeveloped hands. As the event gained momentum,audience witnessed back to back rocking performances followed by Crutch round, short plays, group dance, wheelchair Round and caliper round. What gained most attention was the confidence of divyangs while they were walking down the ramps or even while performing stunts on the stage.

Speaking on this occasion, Padma Shri awarded, Kailash Manav Aggarwal said, “"When a divyang is born who is unfortunately born in a family that is unable to take care of his special needs, and as a result he is devoid of proper education, health care, quality of life.  He accepts his life as it is without any ray of hope. We are trying to be that hope for these specially abled by educating them, skilling them and creating Divyang Heroes. ”

Speaking on this occasion, Mr.Prashant Agarwal, President, NarayanSeva Sansthansaid, “After watching this astounding show where I have seen these marvels learn skills to first operate sewing machines and then using their own creativity to design their own apparels and now presenting their creations with full sprit on the ramp.  To me, this is a remarkable day where we are together celebrating achievements of thesedifferently abled Individuals.”

Narayan Seva Sansthan runs 1100 bedded hospital for specially abled where it conducts major surgeries free of cost to make them physically fit and on top of that, helps them in gaining skills into a specific stream under different vocational programs and helps them in finding employment too. Narayan Seva Sansthan has a skill center in its premises where training on tailoring work is provided.

2 hospitals with a total of 17 buildings can accommodate 1100 beds in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Free Surgeries, medicines and food are provided to the patients and their families.

Over 95 daily surgeries are performed by 125 doctors and nursing staff.

Free of cost Physiotherapy, Calipers, Tricycle, Wheelchair, Crutches, Hearing Aids, Blind sticks and Modular Artificial Limbs are provided.

Free installation of 25,000 calipers and about 11,000 modular artificial limbs every year with supporting Aids and Appliances are provided regularly.

So far, the organisation has donated about 7.95 Lakh wheelchairs and about 2.59 Lakh Tricycles.

Free nutrition rich food is provided for 5,000 patients and their attendants daily.

Skill development to over 8,750 specially enabled individuals since 2011.

Mobile repairing work started by 2,875 individuals after surgeries.

Organisation has skilled 2830 people for Computer and Hardware Training.

Fashion shows are regularly organised to showcase skills of talented differently able people.
