Security apps for danger hour
With the increase in number of crimes against women in metros, security is a prime concern for all. And with everybody these days carrying a mobile phone, a few companies have come up with applications that they claim can help users send emergency messages to their near and dear ones whenever they are in some kind of danger.
An app called Sentinel launched by MindHelix Technologies LLP claims that it will improve women’s security, especially in metros. The app can be used to send alerts to friends by women in a situation of distress. The alerts are sent on pre-configured numbers, email addresses and even works if the person’s phone is switched-off.
This app can be used for other purposes also claims, the company. “This app could be used for securing employees and tracking their location. This could send instant alerts to reconfigured numbers, just by a forced power off,” says Pavan Kumar, MindHelix Technosol. The app can be run on most smartphones available in the market today.
Another emergency alert, Eyewatch, works on Blackberry, Android and selected Nokia smart phones. At the press of a button, it sends multiple messages, e-mails, images, videos, sound bytes and the location status to close friends and relatives, automatically alerting them of any emergency situation. “Eyewatch has been a saving grace in my life, I’ve been using it for a while on my Android phone, it is reliable and is like a ‘magical’ app which sits quietly on your phone to come on when you need it the most,” feels Tarunima Sen, an executive manager.
You can download Eyewatch apps free from eye-watch.in and other app stores like Blackberry App world, the Nokia OVI store and Android Market. “It’s an emergency alert and notification application, which we believe gives a sense of reassurance and security to women, wherein they know that if in case they sense any trouble, they have a handy tool and can notify important people at the same time while calling for help,” says Prateek Kathpal of the Eyewatch.
