Deepika to sport a tanned look?
The makers of the Tamil film Kochadaiyaan will be digitally darkening leading lady Deepika Padukone’s complexion so that it matches that of Rajinikanth, the fim’s hero. “They want the pair to look in sync on-screen,” says our source adding that Deepika will be made to look much darker — in other words a tanned look — than she really is.
Considering the fact that the fair Aishwarya Rai didn’t overshadow Rajini sir in Robot, one doesn’t see the need to darken dusky Deepika. Sources close to the filmmakers say that a special technique known as performance-capturing is being used for the first time in India for the film and the technology requires many adjustments and changes in the actors’ look. These are the demands of digitalised filmmaking, which Deepika has apparently agreed to since her skin tone is much lighter than Rajinikanth’s.
Dippy was apparently in Chennai earlier this week for a “look test” so that her complexion could be matched perfectly with that of her hero. Rajinikanth’s much-talked about tandav dance in the film will also be digitally enhanced to look “out of this world”.
However, when contacted Soundarya Ashwin who is involved in every aspect of the film, said, “All these stories of darkening of Deepika’s skin to match appa’s are false. Deepika was in Chennai for a personal discussion.” And it’s also believed that Deepika did a high-fashion photo shoot at a top portfolio photographer’s studio.
