Turkey gets tense

Turkey’s decision to widen the crackdown by arresting 6,000 people, including those from the armed forces and the judiciary, is a quick measure to stall any more dissent in the wake of the failed military coup that killed 265 people. Amidst allegations of authoritarianism against President Erdogan, the coup is an opportunity for the President to set things right in Turkey, crack down on far-right tendencies and bring it back to its secular roots devised under Kemal Ataturk.
