A Twitter post read: “Welcome to our Valet service. Available even during peak rush hours. Leave your car (emoticon) anywhere & we will be there to serve”. Posted by Abhishek Goyal, Bengaluru’s DCP, to warn people against parking their cars in no-parking zones or face towing away of their cars, it left the twitterati in splits. The officer’s use of humour to send out a public service message is a welcome change in the police-citizen interface. We need more officers of this variety to make good policing and governance a reality.
