Shuttler P.V. Sindhu’s inspiring dream run at the Rio Olympics is a result of her hard work and perseverance. But her coach P. Gopichand, deserves equal credit. In the crucial final with Spain’s Carolina Marin, Sindhu may have settled for a silver, but in the process she earned her chops at the highest sporting carnival. And Gopichand’s contribution to it is inimitable. He had earlier coached Saina Nehwal to win bronze at the London Olympics in 2012. After they parted ways, Gopichand gave us Sindhu, P. Kashyap and K. Srikanth. More power to Gopichand!
