The recent ruling by the National Green Tribunal to deregister all diesel vehicles older than 10 years comes as a breath of fresh air for residents of Delhi. Keeping in mind the deteriorating air quality, this ruling is a welcome step. The NGT has asked the Supreme Court to deregister diesel vehicles older than 15 years first so that deregistration can be carried out in a phased manner. If it is carried out successfully, the air quality will improve, which will make living conditions better for all.
