The Survey Park police station is investigating the complaint of a young woman who had alleged that an employee of Big Bazaar tried to take her picture through a hole in the partition wall of the adjoining changing room while she was changing clothes. The 25-year-old engineer, a resident of Sonarpur in South 24 Parganas, had gone to a mall in Hiland Park with her boyfriend.

“I entered the lady’s changing room at Big Bazaar when I saw something like a flash. Soon, I realised that a youth was hiding in the adjacent trial room and was trying to take my picture with his mobile camera. I immediately raised an alarm and came out. My boyfriend and some other people managed to catch hold of him and the dress the accused was wearing came off during the scuffle. But he managed to escape,” the woman said.

The mall authorities called up the Survey Park police station and a complaint was lodged. The accused, Samir Sikdar, a resident of Sonarpur, is still absconding.

Speaking on the matter, the store manager said, “We have a zero tolerance policy for such issues in the organisation. The person was not our staff but an outsourced staff of the housekeeping agency. He has already been fired.”

A similar incident was reported from Aquatica, a popular water park in Rajarhat in the month of April, where a hidden CCTV camera was found in the changing room.
