The Bombay high court on Monday asked former media baron Peter Mukerjea to provide a copy of his bail plea to the CBI so that it could file a reply on his application in the Sheena Bora murder case.

The Bombay high court on Monday asked former media baron Peter Mukerjea to provide a copy of his bail plea to the CBI so that it could file a reply on his application in the Sheena Bora murder case. The judge then posted the matter for hearing on July 7.

When Mukerjea’s bail plea came up for hearing, the court was informed that the investigating agency had not got a copy of the application. Justice Revati Mohite-Dere then asked the petitioner to give a copy of his bail application to the CBI.

Peter has filed bail application in the high court after the special CBI judge H.S. Mahajan rejected his bail application. Peter is the first accused in Sheena Bora murder case to approach HC for bail.

The application filed by Peter reads, “There is still not an iota of evidence against Peter, and he has been kept behind bars only on suspicion. An arrest on mere suspicion based only on calls at odd hours is extremely tenuous.”

Peter has challenged lower court’s order to refuse him bail on the ground that the investigation was still on.
