Girl ends life as ex posts her nude photos on Facebook

Shattered after her nude pictures were posted on popular social networking site Facebook by her former boyfriend, a teenage girl committed suicide on Monday.

The 17-year-old girl was a resident of Khariberia village at Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas district. The family members said that the minor was in a relationship with a 20-year-old youth, Mithun Naskar, two years ago but the couple had parted ways. They alleged that she hanged herself after facing humiliation when the youth uploaded obscene photographs of her on social media.

They further said that the local police had refused to register an FIR against the youth despite repeated requests from them for three months. “The boy was mentally torturing her and had threatened her. On Sunday night, the boy posted obscene pictures of her on Facebook,” said a cousin of the deceased.

The girl’s mother had then called up the police station but was redirected to the duty official. As it was almost midnight, she decided to visit the police station in the morning. “However, before anything could be done, the girl committed suicide,” the cousin said. The police have started a case against the accused, who has fled after the girl committed suicide.

The police found his house locked from outside. The officers have started a search for him.
