The Kolkata police on Tuesday submitted a chargesheet in the Bankshall court in connection with the Vivekananda Road flyover collapse and only hours later arrested two senior Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) officials.
The 2,600-page-long chargesheet was filed 89 days after the incident (March 31) which killed 26.
Significantly, the murder charge slapped against 10 senior officers of the Hyderabad-based construction company IVRCL, which had been building the controversial flyover, has been dropped from the chargesheet.
Days after the tragedy, these officers were arrested under IPC Sections 302 and 307.
