A Pakistani court on Friday found medical certificate submitted by former military ruler Pervez Musharaf to be fake, officials said.

While hearing the judges detention case here, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad expressed resentment after it found that fresh medical certificate submitted by Mr Musharraf was “fake.”

During the case hearing, the police submitted a report, stating that the accused could not be arrested despite issuance of non-bailable warrant against him. The former military ruler went to Karachi two years back and last month he went abroad.

ATC judge Sohail Ikram said that Mr Musharraf went abroad in March and medical certificate submitted in the court was of April 6.

To this, Mr Musharraf’s lawyer told court that his client will appear in court if his doctors allowed him and adequate security was ensured for him.

While maintaining the non-bailable arrest warrant, the court ordered the police to arrest and present Mr Musharraf till May 20.

The former military ruler is facing multiple charges, including treason and murder over the assassination of former PM Benazir Bhutto.
