Bride kills groom on wedding night

A wedding celebration in Russia's Perm region went horribly wrong when the 20-year-old bride stabbed her 18-year-old groom to death after traditional toasts, the regional investigation department said Monday.

Investigators found the newlywed husband murdered in the couple's apartment in the Kungur town last Friday.

"After the official wedding and traditional toasts with alcoholic beverages on the evening of February 17, the newlyweds began to quarrel. The young woman stabbed her husband in the heart area during the quarrel and the young man died on the spot," the statement said.

The investigators detained his bride as a suspect in the murder the next morning. The bride is charged with murder and faces up to 15 years in prison if found guilty.
