The CBI, probing the corruption case against suspended chief engineer (Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway) Yadav Singh, has recovered documents of 39 immovable properties worth several crores allegedly owned by Mr Singh and his family members. Mr Singh, who was arrested by the agency on Wednesday, has been sent to six days’ CBI custody by a special court in Ghaziabad.

Sources said the CBI informed the special court that Mr Singh failed to explain how he signed around 1,280 contracts amounting to Rs 950 crore in a span of eight days during November 2014 for which he had to be questioned.

Sources said that the CBI has identified through multiple sources 39 immovable assets of Mr Singh and his family which are estimated to be in hundreds of crores. These include bungalows, agricultural land, flats and factories in Agra, Aligarh, Noida and Jewar in Greater Noida. They said among these 39 immovable assets, documents related to six clearly show alleged ownership by Mr Singh and family members and out of them the valuation of four properties has been completed in a joint exercise with the income-tax department though a report is awaited. Massive investments have allegedly been made by Mr Singh in a number of companies in which his family members — wife, daughter and son — were directors, sources claimed.
