The CBI, investigating the multi-crore Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, is all set to examine at least 10 senior officials of two medical colleges in the state. Sources said the agency is probing the role of these officials for allegedly conniving with Vyapam officials in tampering answer sheets of certain students.

Sources said, “The agency sleuths recovered some crucial evidence during recent searches in Bhopal. After analysing these evidence, CBI sleuths are preparing to seek clarifications from at least 10 senior officials of two medical colleges”.

The agency sleuths suspect that these officials allegedly connived with Vyapam officials in tampering answer sheets. The CBI recently conducted searches at seven places in Bhopal as parts of its investigations into the multi-crore Vyapam scam. Searches were conducted in connection with CBI’s probe into the alleged irregularities committed into the recruitment of Transport Constable in 2012 and the Pre-Medical examination in 2012.

The agency may also file 15 fresh FIRs against former officials of the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB), popularly known as Vyapam.

The CBI has so far registered more than 114 FIRs in connection with Vyapam scam.

The SC on in July, 2015 had transferred the probe of all cases related to Vyapam scam to the CBI. Vyapam is a government body responsible for conducting several entrance tests in Madhya Pradesh. It recruits for government jobs and admissions to educational institutes.

Vyapam scam is allegedly a well orchestrated rigging of entrance exams to help undeserving candidates, who allegedly bribed politicians and officials through middlemen, to get high ranks in these entrance tests.

The Vyapam scam dates back to 2004. More than 2,000 people have so far been arrested in connection with the scam. So far, 44 people related to the scam have turned up dead.
