Venkaiah Naidu, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi in BJP list for Rajya Sabha

The BJP on Sunday announced 12 party candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections scheduled on June 11. Union ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Birender Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, Piyush Goyal and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi figured in the list.

Ms Sitharaman, who represented Andhra Pradesh in the RS earlier, will seek re-election from Karnataka. Sources said that NDA ally TDP, instead of supporting her, would send its own nominee to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Naidu will seek re-election to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. He had represented Karnataka earlier. Mr Singh, the Union minister for rural development, will seek re-election from Haryana.
