Lavish arrangements await VIP guests coming to attend two-day global investor meet “Resurgent Rajasthan.” The two-day event will officially begin on Thursday but the guests have already started arriving on Wednesday.

CM Vasundhara Raje is herself checking each and every arrangement by visiting the places of main function and cultural events. Money seems to be no constraint for the Raje government, eager to impress the participants including, finance minister Arun Jaitley, who is the chief guest for the inaugural session, and several prominent Indian and foreign businessmen.

Most of these businessmen along with union ministers have been accorded status of state guests and rooms in five-star hotels have been booked for those who happen to be among the richest people of the country and the world.

There is a cultural programme and dinner at one of the most expensive hotels Jai Mahal Palace on the eve of the investor summit. The first day of the event is largely devoted to cultural programmes. The inaugural session will see performances from renowned folk singers Bhanwari Devi and Moti Khan, as well as the brand ambassador of the summit and Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan. Later, a mélange of cultural activities will be presented for the summit delegates at the Vidhan Sabha and Janpath. The evening will commence with a light and sound show showcasing the key features of the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit. This will be followed by the traditional folk dances of Rajasthan and folk song by Langa Manganiyars. The highlight of the evening will be an aerial performance which will showcase spectacular synchronicity and visual harmony by the dancers. Despite PM Narendra Modi not coming to the event, Jaipur has been witnessing unprecedented security arrangements for the VIPs. More than 4000 policemen, including five companies of Rajasthan Armed Constabulary under the command of 13 IPS officers and 50 RPS would ensure safety of the guests. However, for the ordinary taxpayer, it’s a double whammy as not only his hard earned money is being spent on an event which has no certainty of actual materialisation of the claimed two lakh crore investment agreements but also he is put through discomfort and harassment by way of traffic diversion and jams.

The government offices will remain closed in the city on Thursday because of public functions in the vicinity.
