Rajasthan chief secretary kin accuse him of molestation

Rajasthan chief secretary O.P. Meena’s daughter has accused him of sexual exploitation. Mr Meena’s wife, Rajasthan administrative service (RAS) officer Geeta Singh Deo, distributed a copy of her daughter’s email to the press on Saturday.

Ms Deo had already filed a complaint against Mr Meena for domestic violence. She had filed a dowry case against her husband in September 2015, after 30 years of marriage. She had also alleged that, after the birth of their daughter, Mr Meena and his family harassed and assaulted her. An FIR was filed on the court’s directives.

In a press conference on Saturday, Ms Deo said that Meena has been torturing her from the beginning. “I had written a letter to the Prime Minister in December 2014. I once again wrote to the Prime Minister when Meena was selected for the chief secretary’s post, appealing him not to appoint a person of this kind to such a high post,” Ms Deo said. The RAS officer said that she sought time from the Prime Minister to apprise him about her harassment and torture.

In January 2015, the PMO, acting on Ms Deo’s complaint, had asked the state government for an inquiry, but nothing happened.

Mr Meena is the brother of BJP MP Harish Meena, who was DGP of Rajasthan. Another brother, Namo Narayan Meena, was minister of state for finance in the UPA government for 10 years. Bhawani Singh Meena, another one of his brothers, was also an IAS officer. O.P. Meena was a surprise pick as chief secretary in July by chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

Ms Deo’s brother and sister are also RAS officers. Her brother Yagya Mitra was the president of RAS officers’ association.
